New Solar PV Installation At Elite

Elite has recently installed a large Solar PV installation on the roof of the company’s two large extrusion halls, this is Elite’s flagship project as part of its sustainability initiative.

Commissioned in March 2023, this large brand new Solar PV installation proves that Elite is serious about its Net Zero Carbon Strategy and sustainability ambitions.

The installation is estimated to generate 220,000kWh of electricity each year, reducing total emissions by 43.2 tonnes of Co2 each year. This is the same emissions as a car travelling 121,551 miles or planting more than 2,000 trees each year.

The beauty of a Solar PV installation at Elite Plastics is that because the company’s operations are 24/7, every kWh generated is utilised by the production site immediately, with nothing going to battery and nothing returning back to the grid: from sunrise to sunset the site immediately uses every bit of energy the Solar PV system generates, meaning efficiency is maximised.

Since installation, the solar panels have powered nearly 10% of the site’s production operations and during daytime hours the site can be operating from 30%+ solar power.
